Written on June 25, 2021 about Feb. 16, 17, and 18, 2020 in Bali, Indonesia.
It was Feb. 16, 2020: France had the first death from COVID-19 outside of Asia on the 15th. There were new cases on the 15th and 16th in France, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the UAE. The USA’s second COVID-19 death was confirmed to be on Feb. 17. On day 2, Feb. 16, Jill and I looked around together. We decided to go snorkeling at a place called Jemaluk beach. We both snorkeled there. Jill liked it but eventually retreated to the beach to lay around. I kept swimming, at Jemaluk there were a bunch of statues and structures on the bottom for divers to look at. Fish were always gathered around them. The sky was overcast and there weren’t many other divers. I thoroughly checked out the bottom and then lay on the beach with Jill. We walked to a Yoga resort and ate some delicious dairy-free pizza and watched the sunset.
The next day, Feb. 17, I rented a motor scooter and took a ride down the coast for a few miles. In the evening Jill and I went for a walk on the beach and found a beach restaurant to eat and spend the evening.
I wrote this on Feb. 18, 2020:
It’s almost 10 AM. It rained when we awoke, now it’s sunny and hot. The roosters are telling me everything about their situations, I wish I could understand them. Jill thought we could fo snorkeling today which would be nice. I hope I can avoid sunburn this time. We are going to Penang, Malaysia on Friday. I’m excited We are booked for a week. Then, maybe we will go back to Ubud. Hopefully, we can stay a month the and settle. Amed is idyllic and great for relaxing. Jill is getting her work done. I have not gotten much done 🙁 here. I have been busy being a tourist. I snorkeled the Liberty wreck and Tulamben Reserve. Jill and I went to Jemaluk beach. The snorkeling is amazing! Yesterday, I went for a motorbike ride down the coast to Gili Selang. Its all beautiful, fewer and fewer tourists as I went.
