Yesterday, Jill got some new blog cards printed. We also visited Dyslexia bookstore. A tiny place with lots of Antigua connections. I asked about the book Kabloona but he didn’t have it. It’s about a gentleman that lives with the Inuit in Canada for about a year in 1920 or thereabouts. Kabloona means white man in Inuit. Jim, the proprietor of Dyslexia, wrote an article about it in La Cuadra. La Cuadra is the quarterly English language literary magazine here. Antigua actually has two local English magazines. This town can support periodicals in a foreign language. Antigua also has enough local culture to fill them. Kabloonas all over.
I bought a book called Damas de la China. It’s small and Jim thought I’d like it. I bought it for something to read in Spanish. I imagine reading it over and over until I understand it. I hope it is interesting.
For supper we visited the Bistrot Cinq. Jill had a fancy salmon steak and I ate macaroni, cheese, and bacon. Jill said she could eat that meal everyday. I’m not going to commit to eating macaroni and cheese everyday but that macaroni and cheese was good.
I found a french press in the kitchen in our house. I bought some coffee grown in Huehuetenango, the town next door, and roasted at the cafe I bought it to try out. It’s smelling up the room all night and I can hardly stand it anymore.
